When does LHCUG meet?

Meetings held from the middle of October to the middle of April  at
Swiss Golf and Tennis Clubhouse, One Marina Drive, Winter Haven, Florida 33881
 
             







Monthly Meetings held on the third Thursday at 2:30 P.M. in Club House.
Presentations on computer hardware and software by guests or members following
a short business meeting.

SIGs (Special Interest Groups) are held every Thurs. at 2:30 P.M. until 4:30 P.M.

Board Meetings are held the Second Wednesday of the month at 1:00 P.M. in the
Swiss Golf & Tennis Homeowners Office.

What is FACUG?         

The leading
 regional association of its kind in the country, FACUG is a southeast regional,
non-profit, tax exempt association of independent computer user groups with 46 member
groups, including PC and MAC groups. 

Founded in 1993 to assist user groups, LHCUG became a member in 1996  and officers attend the regional conference held nearby each March.

What is APCUG?
 

This world-wide organization is dedicated to helping user groups.  APCUG's mission is to encourage, promote and enable communication and the exchange of information among
personal computer groups, assist in the fulfillment of their charitable missions and activities that support those missions, promote awareness of the value of user groups to the community and
the computer industry, and facilitate communication among user  groups, the community, and the computer industry.   LHCUG became a member in 2004.

Why should I belong to LHCUG?

SIGs - Special Interest Groups, weekly computer classes and informal demonstrations on
related topics such as: Producing Word documents, Personal Finances, E Mail, Surfing the
Web, Greeting Cards, Digital Photography, Taxes, Genealogy, Banking, Maintenance,
Folders and Filing, etc.

Q and A Session every month with the "Ask-it" Basket.

Keystrokes monthly newsletter available for download or printing PDF format.

Presentations on computer hardware and software, usually by guest speakers at monthly
meetings.
 
Helpline available by Email, phone or necessary house calls for computer problems.
 
Review new software for evaluation, install on personal computer and write an evaluation for
the manufacturer and Keystrokes.


Socialize
 with members who have similar interest in computers.

Membership

Membership is open to persons residing in communities bordering Lake Henry in the beautiful
Winter Haven area of Polk County, Florida.  Guests are welcome to attend twice before
becoming members. You can become a member at any meeting by completing a membership
form and paying dues for the year.

What are Dues?

Dues are payable after Dec. 1st of the preceding year and not later than Feb. 28th of the
current year.  New members joining after the month of Feb. shall pay prorated dues.

Dues are $18.00 for a couple or $15.00 per single.

What is offered for beginners?


Each January, B
eginner Classes are held for three weeks for every resident of the
Lake Henry communities.  Membership is not required. 

Q and A at meetings.   With our "Ask-it" Basket,  just drop a note on your way in.

What is the Lake Henry Computer User Group? 

The Lake Henry Computer User Group, Inc. is an organization of computer users in the beautiful Winter Haven area of Polk County, Florida, dedicated
to educating and helping members enjoy personal computers.
LHCUG, INC.  is a non-profit, educational organization. 

Founded in 1988 by George Rutledge and Bill King to discuss computer language and assist other computer owners.  The membership grew from two to eight the first year.  During the six years Marie Phelps served as President, Bylaws were written. LHCUG was incorporated April 6, 2000, and became a member of FACUG and APCUG.  The group grew to over 200 members.  Marcel Bureau became President in 2002 when Marie retired and held that office until 2005 when Joyce Keller became President.  In 2007 the club was experienced a drop in its membership rolls.  Carol Penner took over as Editor of our newsletter,"Keystrokes" and Carol Costello took over the building of this web site started by Janet Lewis. Don Williams, has been Acting President since Joyce Stepped down in 2007.  We are now at 70 members and growing again.
